my mom always told me that hedge apples will keep away spiders (i have always had a strong dislike of spiders)....but i thought she was full of it until i read an article today that confirms it. hedge apples have an essential oil that acts as a natural repellant to all insects. much better to have a beautiful bowl full of hedge apples than an awful chemical spray.
